Mish Mosh

What does “mish mosh” mean, you ask?!?!

It means this post is a little random post of a few things I have going on right now and some happenings of the past weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

First of all, we (my husband, Sean, and I) received great news that he was able to get a transfer for work, and we are moving back to where we call “home”. We love where we are now, but in all reality we wanted to be closer to family and friends when we start our own family. This is a great opportunity for us, and we couldn’t be more excited ๐Ÿ™‚

Now the craziness begins with selling our house, finding out where we are going to live, packing, moving, etc.

Not to mention we have vacation, I am still in the training period of my promotion, and then I have surgery coming April 1st. Like I said… chaos!! It will all definitely be worth it in the end! ๐Ÿ™‚

We were able to go back “home” over the weekend and got to spend a lot of time with family and friends. Reminds me why we wanted to move back in the first place. We are truly blessed.

We were able to help with an event in the North Scott school district over the weekend. My mother-in-law organized an incredible event with the River Bend Food Pantry, and we were able to serve over 130 families. It was absolutely amazing to see all of the volunteers show up to give back in their community. My husband, his family, my best friend, her boyfriend, and her mother all came to help volunteer also. It was nice to spend time with them while giving back. We already plan on helping with the next event in November. If you want to help volunteer then, contact me for details!! The more, the merrier!

While we were there, my husband’s family gifted us this fun basket to congratulate us on our recent news and welcome us back “home”!! So thoughtful!!! Again, blessed.

On Saturday night we participated (well, me not so much…lol) in a trivia night as a fundraiser for our local private Catholic school. I reminded myself once again that I am not a “random fact”, trivia person. Nonetheless, it was good to spend time with family and friends and be back “home” again. My sister’s college roommate, Jessica, and her husband, Cory, were able to visit for the weekend and join us. It was nice to see them and catch up. Such a great couple! ๐Ÿ™‚

On other “happenings”…while we were back, my mother-in-law informed me of this great deal at the second store, Forget-Me-Not-Boutique in Eldridge. It is called the “bag sale”. Everything that you can fit into their shopping bag you carry out of the store for only $25. HELLO dream to this frugal shopper!!!

I was able to make it out of their with my “bag” full of two pairs of dress pants, two dress jackets (needed for my recent promotion), a pair of shorts, 6 scarves (my favorite!), a dress, and a few shirts. Now that is what I call a deal…SCORE!!!

Now for my other “frugal” buy…I live near a Tanger Outlet mall, and I am signed up for their text messages. I got a text the other day for their $10 gift card deal. You take the text to shopper services, and they issue you a $10 gift card to use at any store in the outlet mall. No strings attached! Seems to good to be true, huh?!?! They hand them out a few times a year. I am going to miss living so close. Like I said, I am a frugal shopper and don’t shop unless I need something for the most part… but who wouldn’t take advantage of a free $10 gift card?!?! DUH!!

So…the burning question…what did I use my $10 gift card on?!?! ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is when people may start to judge me… or call me “old”…or maybe they won’t?!?! Maybe they will call me responsible or practical?!?! Depends who you ask I suppose?

I have been trying to reduce chemicals in my life and live more “green”. As part of that I vowed to purchase and use glass containers. I have just been searching for the “right” ones because again, I am frugal and calculate my purchases. My purchases will be “worth it”. Anywho… I went out to The Kitchen Collection store and purchased two sets of BPA glass containers. Again, called me one of the following: “old”, “lame”, “responsible”, “practical” or a “nerd” because I am really excited about my new glass containers!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am knocking out two birds with one stone…being frugal while committing to my attempts to live more “green”. SCORE again!!!

Gret deal at the seconds store โ€“ Donโ€™t put your self down for shopping for the glass/green items. As you know, Iโ€™m not young anymore, but Iโ€™m trying to go more green and avoid chemicals, gluten, sugar, etc. โ€“ so would you call me young, cool and on top of things? Ha Ha !!!!

Donโ€™t forget in your schedule to put our family in for the late July vacation-celebration. Love ya, Grandma Betty

Love how frugal you are, and of course it’s paid off with all the debt you’ve eliminated! I love glass containers and am glad you were able to get them with your $10 promotion!
