“Elf for Health 2013”

As I have stated previously, I enjoy following other blogs. There are so many people out there in the world with interesting perspectives that are trying to make the world a better place. I find it inspiring and motivating. One of the blogs I follow is The Lean Green Bean (http://www.theleangreenbean.com/). The blog author, Lindsay, has teamed up with another blogger, Elle (http://nutritionella.com/), to create a holiday challenge called “Elf for Health 2013”. Here is a link to the challenge, if you are curious to know more:

As part of the overall challenge, the bloggers are sending out weekly challenges.

The first challenge this week was to send out handwritten letters. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. In today’s society with constant access to computers, internet, email, and social media, people have gone away from writing handwritten letters. There is something very comforting about a handwritten letter. I chose to write my handwritten letters to my grandpa in California, my husband, a new pen pal that I met through the “Elf for Health” challenge, my co-worker who is participating in the challenge with me, and a miscellaneous person. I got the concept of writing to a miscellaneous person from other challenge participants on the Facebook page created for the challenge. I loved the idea! I chance to reach out to a random person. In the miscellaneous letter, I shared the quote “Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”. I find this quote can apply to everyone. You never know how your smile can impact someone. Always be kind. Your words and simple gestures could make a world of difference in someone’s day. Take any opportunity to spread joy and happiness to others.

Friday’s challenge is also a great one. The challenge is to “leave an operation beautiful note”. In my miscellaneous letter, I challenged the random recipient to also “leave an operation beautiful note”. I am also challenging YOU!! Yes, you! If you are curious to learn more, please visit the Operation Beautiful website (http://www.operationbeautiful.com/). It is a GREAT movement!
